Chicago Video Production: Importance of Producing Alternate Versions

One of the chief reasons that made Chicago video production so exciting these days is that it is much easier to accomplish than in the past. The cost of video technology has gone down tremendously, and with a massive and committed community online, the information that you need to successfully navigate the realm of video is just a search away. This means that with a relatively inexpensive camera, some free editing software, and a few online tutorials, you can turn out a pretty decent product. All of these costs having gone down has another exciting ramification for you: many Chicago video production companies now charge less because they are no longer burdened with the overhead they were once responsible for. Having embraced and cultivated knowledge in the newest technologies ultimately allows video productions Chicago to remain on the cutting edge all the while charging our clients far less than the majority of the storied production companies out there today. And these savings are often dramatic: we can typically charge a client about a third of what our competitors are asking for the job in question.

This is not good news–it is great news. It translates into far more companies and organizations having the ability to harness the power of video for their needs. However, there is a further way to save money AND increase the reach and relevancy of your video marketing, and that is to produce alternate versions during a single session. Let me give you a recent example from video productions Chicago.

Video Marketing Chicago

A premier crane rental company  recently enlisted a video editing Chicago company to put together a video for their website. In this video, a representative succinctly informed prospects of the company’s strong foundations, philosophies, and competitive edge. The crane company wanted to have this video on their homepage so as to educate and connect with potential customers; therefore, at the close of the piece the representative thanks the viewers for visiting the site, and encourages them to look around and to call for their next crane rental. She did a great job in the video, was very authentic and likable, and wrapped it all up with a very direct call to action. So the job was in the can right? Wrong. The video should grab this opportunity to access a much larger audience than solely those who visited their site. video editing Chicago should create a video that could be posted in relevant places all over the web so that they could further increase the visibility of their clients and tap the myriad resources out there for customer generation. They video editing Chicago had a fantastic video, but the ending just wouldn’t work out in the wild, wild web–it was specific to viewers who had encountered the crane company video on their homepage. What to do? Well, during the shoot the correct thing to do is very simply request that representative record an alternate ending, wherein she’s persuaded interested parties to visit the company’s website. That’s it! Now that crane company had two videos rather than one, by merely delivering a second call to action; costing all of five minutes of representative’s time.

This is an extremely important principle that will further save you money, and drastically enhance your reach: one video, two alternate endings. It seems incredibly obvious, but oftentimes people are so taken up with the task at hand that they forget to broaden it a bit to great benefit. Every time you produce a video for the web for a specific purpose, you should spend a little extra time broadening it so that it can have a relevance beyond that purpose. If you are producing videos on your own, you have just saved yourself time, and potential continuity issues, by tackling it all at once. If, on the other hand, you are having a video produced for you; you are not only saving yourself time, but are, most importantly, saving yourself the costs associated with commissioning a second shoot. This technique is so simple, and, after you consider it, so painfully obvious; and it is going to prevent so much unnecessary heartache.

Remember: when applicable always, always, always produce alternate versions. This should be your mantra.

Does anyone have good ideas to help me raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society?

I’m running my very first marathon in January as a member of Team N Training. Not only have I committed to running 26.2 miles, I’m also raising $3,700 for Leukemia & Lymphoma research and treatment. Both goals have been life-changing and I recommend anyone join Team N Training. I do need ideas to get me to my goal. So far I’ve raised $1,650 through yard sales, a dog wash, a happy hour and hitting up everyone I know. I just moved to Chicago and it’s tough to plan events in a new city. Thanks for your ideas.

Visit my fundraising site http://www.active.com/donate/tntsofl/ccoss>

The easiest thing to do is go to local buisinesses, for example large chain restaurants and ask them for a donation form. Most restaurants are aloted a donation budget each month but you do have to go through their corporate offices. Fill out the donation form and send it in.

Visiting Chicago’s Exciting Adler Planetarium

Chicago’s Adler Planetarium is one of the city’s most popular attractions, and with good reason. Comprised of a museum which exhibits many fascinating items, including the space suit of one Buzz Aldrin, as well as a plethora of family-friendly educational games where kids can learn just how outer space operates, there’s plenty to take in on a wander around this fantastic attraction.

With videos showing media coverage of the first moon landing, as well as original newspapers from the period, if you’ve ever wanted to learn about the history of astronomical adventure, this is where to go. What’s more, there are fantastic movies to take in that explain a world of information about the galaxy and beyond – narrated by famous actors like Whoopi Goldberg – as well as the planetarium’s key attraction, the Sky Theatre planetarium. This theatre is the dome that can be seen from the outside of the building, which characterises its appearance. Inside, guests will be treated to a live show of the stars: an expert staff use a Zeiss projector to place an image of the stars on the roof of the dome, giving the illusion of literally being surrounded by the night sky, and regale visitors with fascinating stories about constellations, including some dipping into ancient Greek mythology about the star signs, heroes of the land, and all-powerful gods.

The Adler Planetarium has reached such popularity that it is now represented on the Chicago city pass, a pass which offers huge discounts on major attractions. From a one off fee, tourists can purchase the pass and enter attractions such as the city’s main museum, the aquarium, the planetarium and enjoy access to boat trips and the top of the Sears building in order to enjoy Chicago’s cityscape from above. If you’re with friends or family who’d love to take in as much of the city as possible, it’s definitely worth grabbing a few passes and enjoying all the best attractions.

However, even if you’re just interested in seeing what Chicago has to offer by night, this beautiful city will enable you to enjoy strolling beneath the evening sky and a visit to Navy Pier to see the stars floating above will allow you to see the same view as that displayed in the planetarium.

Whether you’re a major astronomy fan or simply interested in finding out more about the galaxy, the Adler Planetarium should be on every tourist’s itinerary during their stay in Chicago hotels. You might just find that you won’t only want to visit once.

Automobile Incident Sufferers Will Pay A ‘crash Tax’ In Addition To Insurance Deductible

Automobile accidents are no fun. The physical damage can be crippling, and insurance deductibles are incredibly expensive. Drivers now have something even more unpleasant to deal with. Have you ever heard of a crash tax?. If you get in an incident outside of the area you live in, regardless of fault or if you get injured, and get checked out by EMS, expect a bill – a large bill.

Error is not part of the ‘crash tax’

The ‘crash tax’ is not complicated. Let’s say a person gets in an automobile crash from home. If emergency services shows up and checks them out, even if they don’t ask for it, the person gets billed. The bill is not astronomical. However, it is far from reasonable. Often, the bill isn’t to the thousands. The norm appears to be a couple of hundred. A recent profile within the NY Times had a man charged $200. The Chicago Tribune had a story of a woman charged $350. Neither asked to be checked out by emergency personnel or needed to go to a hospital.

There is opposition

States banning the crash tax are a growing minority, but a minority nonetheless. Ten states, being Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Florida, Indiana, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania and Tennessee got rid of the practice. However, often the decision isn’t made at the state level, but by municipalities. The practice, also called “resource recovery,” is used to get funds back from individuals that needed emergency services however didn’t pay taxes in that area. True to form, crash taxes are the highest in California.

Insurance policy doesn’t include it

Often, a individuals could be billed for EMS response even if they don’t themselves request to be checked out by medics, which an insurance policy company will not cover. Insurance businesses and numerous other organizations oppose it.

Places to visit near Chicago or Detroit ?

Hi guys !
We live in Detroit and are planning to go to Chicago for the long weekend. Can anyone suggest me some good places in Chicago and nearby cities. As we are getting four days for thanksgiving, we might get time to visit any nearby attractions as well. I will be more than happy if someone could suggest.
Thanks .
Vinki.

I’d stay away from the Mag Mile that weekend just cause there’s no reason to be in the shopaholic crowd that weekend. You can do that at home. :)

Outdoor activities are always dicey in November, but if it’s decent out on the way in or way back you can stop off in Michigan City, IN and the Indiana Dunes. Mt. Baldy is amazing any time of year, and if the air is clear you can see downtown Chicago on the horizon. There is no fee to visit most areas in the Dunes. Then you can go eat at Carlson’s Drive-In in Michigan City, a 50s style drive-in. They make their own root beer, and it’s very good.

Once you get into the city, some things to do:
The Chicago Festival of Maps is ongoing through the end of the year, there are exhibits at many of the major museums in town connected with it:

http://www.festivalofmaps.com/index.aspx

The Museum Campus, which includes the Field Museum, the Shedd Aquarium, the Adler Planetarium, can occupy all of your time in the city all by themselves!

which has descriptions and links to the museums’ websites.

Millennium Park, home of the Bean, is worth a visit, as is the Chicago Cultural center across the street. Enter on Washington Street and go up the stairs, there are amazing interior spaces on both the second and third floors.

The Chicago Architecture Foundation offers tours that are interesting:

The Hancock Observatory is the better view of the two high rise observatories

http://www.hancock-observatory.com/

Down in Hyde Park, there’s the Museum Of Science And Industry, a top attraction, and the less well known Oriental Institute, with some stunning ancient sculpture. Also there’s tours of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Robie House, one of the most important houses ever constructed. All three of these are very close together.

And if you like Frank Lloyd Wright’s work, his home and studio in Oak Park are must sees. The site with the robie house info is the Wright Preservation Trust, which also runs tours of the home and studio in Oak Park.

And at night, there’s theater too:
